ROSE WINS IN MOUNTAIN STAGE NEWSONG CONTEST FINALS!!

Tonight I played at New York City’s South Street Seaport as a part of the River to River Festival and the finals for Mountain stage Newsong Contest. Other winners include Ellery (Cinn, OH), Jason Spooner (Portland, ME) RJ Cowdery (Columbus, OH) and Sarah White (Charlottesville, VA).

I met up with lady liberty a couple times, once on land and once via waving from the Staten Island Ferry. Thanks to Gar Ragland from Newsong for making me feel so very well taken care of!

It’s official – fall. In Halifax the signs of this yearly transition are starting to show around the edges. The city is a buzz with the Atlantic Film Festival and last night’s warm evening packed the downtown with people holding on to their short sleeves.

It’s been 4 years since the launch of my very first website and so I enlisted the expertise of Mat Dunlap to give it a refresh and with a few of my photos and a couple hand drawn stylings by Daniel Ledwell, this is my new space! I’ll be slamming lots of photos up over the next while so snoop around and lemme know what you think.

If You Were for Me is ONE YEAR OLD! Um..wow…how exactly did that happen?. THANK YOU everyone for your AMAZING SUPPORT through coming to shows or buying the CD…sending me your thoughts or sharing the music with friends and spreading the good word!!

Jill Barber, David Myles, Old Man Luedecke and I traveled to the Strawberry Music Festival in Yosemite California over the Labour Day weekend, an incredible pocket of the world. Thousands of campers in tight quarters nestled under trees eight stories high. Once the main stage closed down, the campground came alive with jams that lasted through the night. We played with some other great Canadian acts like The Bills, The Wailin Jenny’s and Samantha Robichaud. Lucinda Williams rocked it the 2 nd night we were there – wow. On Monday we headed home with our shoes full of dirt and big smiles on our faces.

Ms. EDIE CAREY is coming to CANADA today! We will complete our cultural exchange over the next week as she joins me for shows in the Maritimes (see shows).

I’m heading to New York today to hang out with my pals Ana Egge and Jason Spooner who I’ll meet up with at the finals for the Mountain Stage Newsong contest. If you’re in Manhattan tomorrow afternoon come down to the South Street Seaport!

In my player: Don Brownrigg, Great Lake Swimmers, Alison Krauss, Mike Evin
