(happy birthday dad & trent)

Moving right along in the studio HOLY!!..things are sounding full and new and I can’t wait to share it with all y’all! Here’s some more inside views: greg the intern gets tips from karl on day 5, john spurns lays some sweet cello on day 7, guitar overdubs on day 8, aaaaand listen, Danny Maillet visits from NB to put finishing touches on several tunes with dobro, pedal steel and electric guitar on day 10. (insert weekend here). Day 11 was a late night with Dave Burton returning to add incredible piano to a few songs, a few small adjustments, aaaaaaand cheers… Day 12,today, was the home stretch with me working on a solo tune. Back in the studio next week!

On Saturday past I went to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia to see the Christopher Pratt Exhibit on its second last day. When my friend and I arrived they told us that Christopher himself would be giving a tour 5 mins later. Unbelievable. Listening to him speak gave me a great sense of what it might be like years from now when I will look back at my (cross fingers) body of work and reflect with a keen sense of understanding; reflecting on the journey and recalling moments in which I will have learned something about myself.

Pratt says, ” we say that ghosts are spirits from the past; therefore, we haunt the future while we are alive: I want to be present in my images seeing but unseen, a silent host”. Indeed.

I want to share one more Pratt quote with you which says a little something about the greatest works of art- song or otherwise – ” I have always had a sense that there is an immense presence in ordinariness; the dignity of things that have nothing going for them beyond the fact of their existence.” The greatest songs are about our every day, our every heartbeat.

In my player: David Francey, all the songs from my new album!!!
