This one’s going to be about traveling.
I tend to do that a lot, travel around from city to city, stopping to see friends in each place and spending a lot of time in the air above this great country. A friend recently said to me that the greatest clarity can be found at 37,000 ft.
Traveling makes me more awake to the “what else”. It eases my eye muscles that get focused and twisted around the details, letting them wander and land on things I’ve never seen before. On the west coast all is in bloom, green and lush. On the east buds are contemplative… testing the air like I would the Gulf of St Lawrence to see if I will wade in or if I have to run in screaming.
Traveling removes the restrictions of settling down yet exercises the part of me that likes to feel like I’ve got a home to get to after I’ve run around for a bit. Somewhere in there lies a balance that makes me long for both all at the same time. Freedom and solid ground. I think perhaps that reflects my desires..that I be able to apply this to all that I do.
Traveling connects me with the people who hold pieces of my heart across the country and even though I only get small bits of time with them, I leave all full up. Likewise when I travel the few hours home to pei for a feed of mussels and hamburgers like only my mother can make and my dad can cook.
Pieces of my travel: Toronto, Carnarvon, Alberta, Vancouver, Victoria, PEI
Happy Birthday Gramma ..may I also get to 90 with such grace.
