Cousins’ Thanksgiving…for my family this includes no less than 12 people around the table, definitely chicken or turkey…sometimes ham and a roast as well with all the fixin’s. Just when you think you’ve hit your limit, the pumpkin, raspberry and pecan pies hit the table and SOMEhow you find an extra space in your already stretched stomach to place a taste of each….a la mode. Then tea and post dinner narcolepsy.
I’m thankful for the year’s lessons as I remember being in a different place this time last year. I was just getting my power and phone back after the hurricane and I watched truck loads of broken trees go by on their way to new resting places. The Tree Song was born. I’m resting in new places too.
A frost warning for tonight solidifies in me the onset of fall and the leaves on building vines are vibrant. Cold turns our breath into clouds (the weepies) and it is dark at early morning rise. I lament the summer but am able to accept as my last trip to Boston at the end of Sept was warm and allowed me another day in shorts….closure.
I’m full of new music and am reflecting on inspiring conversations, of which some have turned into songs. I’m excited about plans to record and think this will be a good winter activity to be ready for the re-birth in spring.
Happy Thanksgiving to all you Canadians this weekend!
